Voting in parts of the Federal Capital Territory council election on Saturday faced early setbacks, as sensitive materials had not departed the Registration Area Centre (RAC) in Lugbe minutes before 9:00 a.m., despite earlier assurances by the Independent National Electoral Commission that accreditation and voting would begin by 8:30 a.m.

At the RAC centre located in LEA Primary School, security personnel were still being organised while officials worked to finalise arrangements for the distribution of electoral materials to polling units across Lugbe.

In a video seen by observers, the Lugbe RAC supervisor explained that officials were making last-minute efforts to ensure the safe dispatch of sensitive materials to the appropriate polling units.

Given the delay, there are concerns that voting may not commence until after 10:00 a.m. in several Lugbe polling units, falling short of the timeline earlier promised by the electoral body in the Federal Capital Territory.
