The FALEAD School of Peace Studies (FSPS), in collaboration with the Plateau State Youth Council (PYC), Jos North Chapter, has commenced an eight to ten-week Youth Peace and Conflict Resolution Training aimed at equipping young people with practical skills in peacebuilding, leadership and conflict management.
The first cohort of the training was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at EBOMI Towers in Jos, bringing together youth leaders drawn from communities across Jos North Local Government Area with the support of El-Buba Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI) and Convener of IBBN, Prophet Isa El-Buba, urged participants to approach the training with seriousness and a sense of purpose.
He challenged the youths to become solution providers rather than mere recipients of knowledge, stressing that the value of the programme would be measured by the positive impact participants make in their communities.
According to him, conflict resolution, crisis management and leadership skills should translate into practical actions capable of transforming society.
El-Buba also encouraged the participants to embrace discipline, intentionality and sacrifice in their pursuit of personal growth and national development, noting that lasting success requires commitment and perseverance.
Earlier, Chairman of the Plateau State Youth Council, Jos North Chapter, Ambassador Paul Mancha, described the training as a strategic investment in the future of Plateau youths.
He explained that the programme, organised in partnership with the FALEAD School of Peace Studies and supported by EBOMI, was designed to empower young people with practical skills for managing conflicts and promoting peaceful coexistence in their communities.
Mancha disclosed that although the professional course normally costs about ₦350,000, it has been offered to participants as a scholarship by the school.
He said the training would run for six to eight weeks, with participants attending sessions three times weekly, while additional cohorts are expected to commence later in the year.
According to him, the current participants were carefully selected from youth leaders representing various communities and ethnic groups to ensure they become ambassadors of peace across Plateau State.
President of the FALEAD School of Peace Studies, Dr. Seidu Ochimana, said the institution was committed to producing professional peacebuilders capable of transforming conflicts and contributing meaningfully to society.
He described conflict management, conflict resolution and conflict transformation as practical skills needed across every sector of society, adding that the school’s approach combines professional training with mentorship and livelihood support.
Ochimana urged participants to remain committed throughout the programme, assuring them that the knowledge acquired would benefit not only their careers but also their families and communities.
He noted that since its establishment in 2010, the school has trained hundreds of individuals from Plateau and other states, many of whom have gone on to secure professional opportunities and contribute to peacebuilding initiatives across Nigeria.
The organisers said the initiative is aimed at empowering youths to become agents of peace, strengthen community resilience and contribute to sustainable development across Plateau State.
