The Plateau state Police command has intercepted a syndicate circulating fake currency around Jos and its environs.
Commissioner of Police, Adekunle Oladunjoye stated this at the police
headquarters while parading suspected criminals apprehended by his
officers and men during the first quarter of the year 2016.
One of the suspects who spoke in Hausa said this is his first time of
committing in the crime and that about twenty thousand naira fake
currency is already in circulation before the syndicate was quashed by
the police.
The Commissioner said the police had recorded some success in Barkin
Ladi and Bokkos Local government areas where armed robbery was said to
be rampant.
The Commissioner who paraded the suspects before newsmen said they
committed offences ranging from culpable homicide, Armed Robbery, Car
theft, murder and have been charged to court.
Various dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects and will be used as exhibits in court.
