The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has apologized to passengers and stakeholders following a weekend power outage at Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos State.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, FAAN said the disruption was caused by a fault in the terminal’s changeover circuit.
The agency explained that the interruption occurred during a power changeover process, prompting its technical teams to quickly transfer electricity supply to the secondary grid. Interim backup measures were also activated to restore services promptly.
“We acknowledge the power outage at MMIA Terminal 1 yesterday (weekend). The interruption was caused by an issue with the changeover circuit. We apologize to all passengers and stakeholders affected by the disruption and any discomfort it caused,” the statement read.
