Residents of Ibom Isii, in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, have paraded Mrs. Chinelo, the wife of a former traditional ruler, after she was allegedly caught burying charms in a compound in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the woman was reportedly spotted attempting to bury the charms before being apprehended by villagers.
Videos circulating online show Mrs. Chinelo, dressed in a red wrapper and barefoot, being paraded through several villages by a crowd of over 200 people singing traditional songs and playing local instruments. She was also seen carrying a plate said to contain the alleged charms.
Some community members claimed that the woman had previously been sent away from her husband’s home over alleged infidelity.
A community source revealed that after the parade, she was handed over to the elders to explain her actions or prove her innocence.
However, another villager claimed that Mrs. Chinelo had already confessed to the act upon being caught, describing it as a grave abomination within the community.
In the circulating footage, the ex-monarch’s wife appeared calm and silent throughout the parade, holding the alleged charms without uttering a word.
