The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arraignment of a married woman who falsely accused her husband of def!ling their two daughters.
According to a statement released on November 13, 2025, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the complaint was initially lodged on October 25, 2025, by Okonkwo Chisom (29) at the Emene Police Division, alleging that her husband, Okonkwo Ozioma, had def!led their daughters aged 5 and 3 and threatened her against disclosure.
Following the husband’s arrest, thorough investigations revealed that the allegations were false and misleading. Evidence showed that during the periods in 2024 and 2025 cited in her complaint, Chisom had traveled alone with the children to their hometown in Imo State. Voluntary statements from their 7-year-old son, supported by video evidence, indicated that Chisom had coached her children to make false accusations. She also attempted to withdraw the complaint once the truth began to emerge.
SP Ndukwe stated that Chisom was subsequently arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Enugu State on two counts of defamation and giving false information. She was granted bail, and the case has been adjourned for further hearing.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended detectives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) for their impartial investigation and emphasized that anyone found making false or malicious allegations will face prosecution.
This case underscores the command’s commitment to fairness, justice, and professionalism in handling all complaints.
