In pursuit of the gubernatorial aspirations of Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Jime, friends, associates and groups in favour of his candidature have resolved to contribute monies to aide him in the purchase of the All Progressives Congress’ expression of interest and nomination forms.
Revealing the information this evening, Friday 7th September, political associates of Jime and some groups such as the Good Governance Support Group; Citizens Defence Group; The Jime Core Group; Booth by Booth for Jime among others, stated that, “In these days and times, its not easy for a single individual to cough out N22.5Million. And because of our utmost faith in his candidature, we have met variously as well as in our numbers and decided to contribute a penny here, a penny there to aide him to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms. When the idea was muted, we never thought we could achieve it, but eventually we were overwhelmed by the eagerness of dozens of people to chip in and since these people cut across religious, ethnic and social backgrounds, its a clear indication that Jime is truly a man of the people and his time has come.”
Recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had began the sale of forms into elective offices as from 5th September and pegged the cost of forms for the Governorship position at N22.5Million. Our understanding is that, it is drawn from this perceived strain on the purse of the contestant, in this case, Emmanuel Jime that this amalgam of supporters have come together to aide their candidate whom they consider a front runner, to purchase his forms.
Calls to close associates of the former speaker of Benue House of Assembly, two term member of the House of Representatives and current Managing Director of Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), indicate that all the required monies would have been pooled and the candidate will obtain his forms on Monday, 10th September, 2018.
