The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has cleared the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, of any involvement in its ongoing investigation into an alleged visa fraud scheme.
In a statement, the anti-graft agency clarified that Nandap is neither a suspect nor a person of interest in the investigation, dismissing reports linking her to the alleged fraud.
The EFCC said its investigation remains focused on individuals directly connected to the suspected visa fraud and stressed that the Comptroller General has not been implicated in any aspect of the case.
The clarification follows public speculation suggesting that senior officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service were under investigation in connection with the alleged scheme.
The commission urged members of the public to disregard what it described as misleading reports associating Nandap with the probe, reaffirming its commitment to conducting a thorough, impartial and evidence-based investigation.
The EFCC also assured Nigerians that anyone found culpable in the alleged visa fraud would be held accountable in accordance with the law, while investigations into the matter continue.
