The Department of State Services, in a short statement signed by its Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Peter Afunanya, officially confirmed Bawa’s release from its custody. The suspension of Abdulrasheed Bawa was announced by the Director of Information at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey. The suspension was prompted by serious allegations of abuse of office levied against him, and it aimed to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct during his time in office.

It is worth noting that one of the allegations against Bawa was made by the former governor of Zamfara State and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. Matawalle accused Bawa of soliciting a $2 million bribe from him, an allegation that Bawa vehemently denied.

Upon his release, Bawa was joyfully reunited with his family and friends amidst a sense of celebration.
