Canadian rapper Drake has placed a massive $770,000 (over N1 billion) bet on Canada to defeat South Africa in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash.

The Grammy-winning artiste revealed the wager on social media ahead of Sunday’s knockout fixture, saying he was inspired to increase the stakes after receiving a message from renowned South African DJ Black Coffee.

“@realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM. I had to raise my stakes,” Drake wrote.

A screenshot shared by the rapper showed he staked $770,000 on a Canadian victory, with the bet carrying a potential payout of $1,001,000 if Canada advances to the Round of 16.

The highly anticipated encounter marks the first match of the World Cup Round of 32, with South Africa aiming to continue their historic run after reaching the knockout stage for the first time, while Canada hopes to capitalize on home support in the expanded 2026 tournament.

Drake is well known for placing high-profile sports bets on major sporting events, often sharing his wagers with fans on social media.
