The last is yet to be heard of members of the ruling All Progressives
Congress (APC) defecting to the PDP, as Amb. Yahaya Kwande, told
delegates for the forthcoming People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
Presidential primary, not to be surprised “If Governor Simon Lalong the
incumbent Governor of Plateau state and I defect to the PDP anytime
soon.”

The elder statesman gave this shocking insight of a future
possibility, when he accompanied, the former Vice President (VP), Atiku
Abubakar to the Plateau State PDP secretariat to woo the delegates to
elect him as the party’s candidate for the 2019 presidential election.
Amb. Kwande, said, “I was on my way when I was called and informed
that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is in town. I have never crossed the gates of
the PDP since I joined the APC, the presence of Atiku is the reason why
I am here. I am the leader of my people in kwande and Geomai nation.

“You should know that all the contesting governors have been coming
to consult with me one after the other. Although I am still in APC,
Atiku is a person I have in mind to support.
“The people of Plateau know from history that whoever I support at
this level will definitely win in an election, just as I showcased the
incumbent Governor of Plateau state that led to his victory.
“However, with the way things are going now in Nigeria, people should
not be surprised if they see Governor Lalong and I in the PDP.

On his part while wooing the delegates, Atiku pledged to unite the
country, as it would not be an era for, “Promoting interests on
religion, tribal or ethnic lines or showcasing outright nepotism.”
The state chairman of the party Hon. D.T. Sango who welcomed the
train, called on them to keep the spirit of unity of the party, even
after the party’s presidential primaries.
