Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has reacted to the backlash trailing former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
Taking to his Instagram page, Ogbonna questioned why many Nigerians were condemning Trump’s threat to send U.S. forces to combat the terrorists responsible for the attacks.
“Do we want the terror group gone or not?” the actor asked in his post.
He argued that Nigeria, as a sovereign nation, has struggled for years to win the war against insurgency, yet the crisis persists. According to him, any form of foreign assistance that could help end the killings should be seen as a welcome development rather than an act of interference.
Ogbonna’s statement comes amid heated reactions to Trump’s warning that the U.S. might take military action if Nigeria fails to stop the violence against Christians.
