Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a stern warning to truck operators across Nigeria to desist from the unauthorized use of its logo, citing reputational harm and public misinformation.
The company said despite repeated notices, some unaffiliated truckers continue to brand their vehicles with the Dangote logo for personal or undisclosed purposes. In several instances, such vehicles have been involved in accidents and criminal activities, leading to unwarranted embarrassment for the conglomerate.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorized vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company stated.
Dangote also expressed concern over misleading reports that automatically link road accidents to its fleet, describing attempts to exploit tragic incidents for “malicious or financial gain” as unacceptable.
As one of Africa’s largest commercial fleet operators, Dangote disclosed that it owns more than 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, with over 3,000 managed by third-party contractors. On average, the company deploys more than 6,000 trucks daily, sustaining its nationwide logistics operations and creating over 36,000 jobs.
To strengthen accountability, Dangote said it works closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory agencies to monitor, train, and standardize operational practices. It also conducts regular internal audits to align with global best practices and improve compliance across its fleet.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance, the company vowed to step up monitoring with law enforcement agencies and pursue legal remedies against offenders.
