In a move set to further influence Nigeria’s domestic gas market, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again reduced its ex-depot price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), dropping from ₦810 per kilogram last Wednesday to ₦760 per kilogram.

The refinery’s new price makes it the cheapest in the market, compared to rates from other major depots. Matrix and Ardova currently sell at ₦920 per kilogram, while A.Y.M Shafa and NIPCO charge ₦910 per kilogram. Stockgap Depot remains the most expensive at ₦950 per kilogram.

The price gap—ranging from ₦150 to ₦190 per kilogram—reflects Dangote Refinery’s strategy to reshape market dynamics and encourage fairer pricing across the LPG supply chain.

Industry analysts say the move demonstrates a deliberate effort by the refinery to stabilise depot pricing and curb excessive markups that have long contributed to high cooking gas costs for Nigerian households.

The latest adjustment follows the refinery’s series of price cuts since it began domestic LPG supply, reinforcing its growing influence on market trends and offering relief to consumers grappling with rising energy costs.
