The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced the nationwide sale of premium motor spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, at ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations.

The refinery described the move as a major milestone in its drive to make petrol more affordable and stabilise Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

With over 2,000 MRS outlets spread across the country, Dangote Refinery said the new pump price is expected to be uniformly implemented nationwide, allowing consumers to benefit from the reduction.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the refinery commended MRS and other marketers for reflecting the reduced price at the pump, urging more operators to follow suit in support of Nigeria’s economic recovery.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the statement read.

The refinery noted that the festive season is usually marked by fuel scarcity and price hikes but said its intervention had changed the narrative this year.

“Dangote Refinery has delivered a decisive market intervention—crashing pump prices at a time when Nigerians typically brace for hardship,” it stated.

According to the company, the initiative is backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, significantly improving supply dynamics during the holiday period.

The refinery added that large-scale local refining is reducing Nigeria’s exposure to volatile global oil markets, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira, and strengthening the nation’s energy security.

It further noted that steady supply and moderated prices are already providing relief to households, businesses, and transport operators across the country.

However, Dangote Refinery warned against attempts by “unscrupulous” operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price reduction, describing such actions as unpatriotic and unacceptable.

The company urged regulatory agencies to remain vigilant and take decisive action against any form of supply manipulation, particularly during the festive season.

Consumers were also advised to avoid purchasing petrol at inflated prices when cheaper alternatives are available, noting that locally refined PMS is accessible at ₦739 per litre at MRS stations nationwide.

The refinery encouraged Nigerians to report any MRS outlet selling above the approved price by calling 0800 123 5264, while calling on other petrol station operators to patronise its products so the benefits of the price reduction can be extended across the country.
