Global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, are reportedly preparing to tie the knot in a Christian wedding ceremony on his home island of Madeira next summer.

According to Jornal da Madeira, the couple will wed at the historic Funchal Cathedral, with a luxurious reception expected to take place at a top-tier hotel on the island. The ceremony is scheduled to hold after the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo and Georgina announced their engagement in August after more than nine years together.

The 40-year-old football star recently spoke about his spontaneous proposal—complete with a £1.5 million ring—during an interview with Piers Morgan. Ronaldo revealed that the moment was unplanned but felt perfect.

“It was like 1 a.m. My daughters were sleeping,” he recounted. “One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids came in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum and ask her to get married.’ I said, ‘Wow, this is the right moment.’”

Ronaldo admitted he did not get down on one knee because the proposal was improvised, but described it as a “beautiful moment.”

“It was simple. I’m not a very romantic guy… but I’m romantic in my way. I knew she was the woman of my life,” he added.

Ronaldo is a father of five: Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo (born via surrogacy), and two daughters with Georgina — Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda.

The Portuguese legend and the Argentine-Spanish model are believed to have begun their relationship in 2016 while Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid.
