
Plateau state Governor, Simon Bako Lalong has extended the total lockdown till Thursday 23rd April but giving a 4 days window till Sunday for citizens to restock food.
Plateau State Governor Rt. Hon. (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong made this known in a state wide address on the COVID-19 total lockdown which expired by 11pm today, 15th April 202.
Recall that the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, issued a 7day lockdown which started with a state wide Fumigation Exercise on Friday 10th April, 2020.
The total lockdown for 7days which ends today Wednesday 15th April by 11:00pm. Governor Lalong in issuing the state lockdown, said Plateau was using the opportunity to fumigate the entire 17 local government in the state.
Governor Lalong speaking at the state wide broadcast further commended all citizens for putting efforts in ensuring that the lockdown was effective also appreciating the security agencies for proper management of the lockdown exercise.
Lalong pointed that about 1242 persons where caught to have defaulted in the total lockdown and despite that the state fumigation exercise was a success.
He said government was not resting on the fight against Covid-19 as such the need to extend the total lockdown to 23rd April 2020 so as to meet the stipulated 14days standard for Covid-19 lockdown. However the lockdown starting from Thursday 15 April 11pm will give room for essential service providers and food shops and markets for people to restock food up until Sunday 19th April when the the next total lockdown will begin and run up until Thursday 23rd April 2020.
Lalong further directed the immediate distribution of palliatives in the state to the vulnerable in the society, an exercise he said will be overseen by the deputy governor..
