Scenes of chaos were recorded on Thursday at the national headquarters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the 2027 presidential election.
The disorder reportedly began when a large crowd of Atiku’s supporters and loyalists stormed the venue in an attempt to gain access to the main hall where the submission process was taking place.
Eyewitnesses said the enthusiastic crowd overwhelmed security operatives and bouncers stationed at the entrance, forcing their way into the building and damaging the entrance doors in the process.
Following the breach, supporters flooded the hall in a chaotic manner, pushing past journalists, party officials, and invited guests as they struggled to catch a glimpse of the former Vice President.
Despite repeated attempts by journalists to obtain comments from Atiku after the event, reporters were unable to secure an interview or official statement from him.
Sources at the venue disclosed that the former presidential candidate quietly exited the premises through an underground basement route, leaving many journalists waiting outside without an opportunity to speak with him.
