The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, has cautioned women against collecting transport money from men without honoring the visit.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Iringe-Koko described the act as fraud, stressing that it is punishable under Nigerian law.
“Why will you collect transport fare from a man without going to see him? It’s a punishable offence. It is obtaining money under false pretence. 419,” she said.
The statement has generated widespread reactions online, with many men commending the police officer for clarifying that such actions could attract legal consequences.
