During the visit, Lieutenant General Shaibu was conducted on a guided tour of facilities by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folunsho Oyinlola. The COAS inspected troop welfare facilities and commissioned two newly completed blocks of residential buildings accommodating 30 families each, alongside additional twin flats. He also assessed other residential structures and ongoing renovation projects within the barracks.

Addressing journalists, the COAS explained that the visit formed part of his routine operational engagements across Army divisions to identify challenges and proffer immediate solutions.

“This is part of my operational visit to different divisions. I am here to assess the current state of combat readiness, identify challenges, and see how we can mitigate them immediately to positively impact operational outcomes,” he said.
“There are also security issues on the Plateau that require proper discussion and strategic planning to ensure they are effectively addressed.”

Lieutenant General Shaibu commended the leadership and troops of 3 Division for their efforts, noting that despite the complex security environment, the Division has continued to perform creditably within its area of responsibility.

“I am quite satisfied with what I have seen so far. The Division is doing very well in trying to mitigate security threats within its area of responsibility. It is not easy, but they are doing their very best,” he stated.

“Your job here is very critical to ensure peace and stability on the Plateau. In carrying out your duties, you must remain disciplined and committed. Discipline is the bedrock of this profession,” he said.

He assured the troops that their welfare remains a top priority for the Army High Command, adding that necessary enablers are being provided to ensure they operate effectively.

“You joined the Army voluntarily to serve your fatherland, and there is no nobler cause than that. Your welfare is paramount, and we will continue to provide an enabling environment for you to do your job properly,” the COAS added.
