A coalition of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support groups in Plateau State has called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need for greater alignment with the Federal Government to boost development in the state.
The coalition, led by Hon. Christopher Danjem, began its rally at Secretariat Junction in Jos before marching to the Plateau State Government House to deliver a formal letter addressed to the governor. The delegation was received by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Jeremiah Satmark, alongside other senior government officials.

Speaking during the visit, Danjem said the coalition’s position followed a careful study of the political climate in both Plateau State and Nigeria at large. He said the group, with members drawn from all 17 local government areas, believes Governor Mutfwang should join the APC to consolidate development efforts.
“We are here after studying the political situation in Plateau State and Nigeria. We are calling on His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, to move to the All Progressives Congress,” Dachen stated. “The governor is the architect of the new Plateau. To build on his achievements, we believe he needs to align with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
He added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had shown goodwill to Plateau people, referencing the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu’s visit to the state during recent attacks. According to Danjem, aligning with the APC would help Plateau attract more federal presence and accelerate development.
The group also conducted what it termed a “motion session,” unanimously adopting a resolution urging the governor to defect “without hesitation.”
Presenting the advocacy letter, Hon. Christopher Danjem, chairman of the group, said the appeal was driven by a desire to secure more democratic dividends for the state.

Receiving the delegation, Chief of Staff Jeremiah Satmark informed them that the governor was away at a meeting in Kaduna, which was why he had mandated key aides— including the Political Adviser, Rt. Hon. Istifanus Mwansat, Local Government Affairs Adviser, Hon. Jonathan Dabo, and Intergovernmental Affairs Adviser, Rt Hon Abu Kanam, to represent him.
Satmark commended the group for its peaceful conduct and stated that the message would be conveyed to the governor.
“You recall that His Excellency has said two entities will determine his next political move— God and the people of Plateau State,” Satmark said. “You have shown yourselves as people of genuine concern. The governor is transformative and highly regarded for changing the fortunes of this state since assuming office.”
He assured the group that Governor Mutfwang would consider their request “passionately” and that feedback would be communicated in due course.
The rally marks one of the first public calls from within PDP-affiliated groups urging the governor to consider a realignment with the ruling party at the national level.
