Christians worldwide have been reminded of the importance of awakening to the responsibilities of reconciliation within the family of God and fully embrace their status as children of God.p This poignant message was delivered by the Apostolic Overseer of Abba Father Assembly, Dr. Joshua Egbagbe, during his Easter sermon to his congregation.
Dr. Egbagbe emphasized the paramount importance of reconciliation with God, highlighting it as the greatest work accomplished by Christ. Drawing from John 17:1-3, he underscored that eternal life, synonymous with knowing the Father as the only true God, is intricately linked with reconciliation.

Using Ephesians 2:16 as a reference, Dr. Egbagbe elucidated on the purpose of Christ’s death, emphasizing that it was for reconciliation and restoration. He likened Christians to newborn babies in a family, stressing that just as babies inherit both benefits and responsibilities upon birth, so do Christians upon their reconciliation with God through Christ.
Furthermore, he emphasized the symbolic significance of the cross as the ultimate sign of reconciliation with God. Quoting Ephesians 2:18-19, he highlighted that through Christ, believers gain access to the family of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Christ, as the firstborn, leads believers to reconciliation with God, making them children of God.
In addition to embracing reconciliation, Dr. Egbagbe urged Christians to recognize their responsibilities within the family of God. He emphasized the importance of soul-winning and spreading the knowledge of God’s family, urging believers to actively participate in bringing others into the fold.
Similarly, Rev. Prof. Paul Cokuy echoed the sentiment, focusing on the power of missions in his sermon titled “Power of Missions and the Power for Missions.” He emphasized that the power of missions lies in obedience and active participation in God’s kingdom. Prof. Cokuy challenged believers to share their experiences of Christ wherever they go and to let their impact be felt in their communities.
Both ministers stressed the importance of Christians becoming true ambassadors of God’s message, actively engaging in missions and spreading the love of Christ. As Easter approaches, their messages serve as a reminder of the responsibilities and privileges of being part of the family of God.
