The CHEF ELVIS Group has commenced discussions with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Plateau State Command, on a possible partnership to promote drug abuse prevention and public sensitisation ahead of its upcoming festival.
The proposed collaboration will focus on drug abuse awareness, responsible youth engagement and the promotion of healthier choices among young people attending the festival.
The engagement is part of the Group’s broader commitment to using its platforms in food, entertainment, culture and lifestyle to contribute to social development and community wellbeing.
The CHEF ELVIS Group delegation was led by its Director of Operations, Mr Joshua Ashue, popularly known as Chef Suey.
The delegation was received by the NDLEA Plateau State Commander, Mrs Sani Christiana, alongside the Deputy State Commander, Mr Alex Idoga, and other Assistant State Commanders.
Discussions during the meeting centred on possible areas of collaboration, particularly the use of the festival as a platform to increase awareness about the dangers associated with drug abuse.
The Group said festivals provide an important meeting point for young people, creatives, entrepreneurs and communities and should therefore serve purposes beyond entertainment.
“As an institution, we recognise that the experiences we create also give us an opportunity to shape conversations that matter. Our festivals should not only bring people together; they should provide a platform for responsible engagement, stronger communities and positive social impact,” the Group stated.
According to the organisers, the proposed partnership would explore ways of incorporating drug prevention messages and sensitisation activities into the festival in a manner that is accessible and relevant to its audience.
The engagement also reflects what the Group described as its evolving institutional direction, with greater emphasis on partnerships with public institutions, private-sector organisations and development stakeholders whose mandates align with its community-focused objectives.
As preparations for the festival continue, the Group said further details about the proposed partnership and planned activities would be announced after the conclusion of discussions with the NDLEA.
