The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has released an update on its ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise, revealing that over 1.8 million applications were received across Nigeria.

According to the board, 1,120,491 applicants successfully completed and progressed to the computer-based test (CBT) stage after meeting initial requirements and passing screening.

However, 360,923 applications were rejected during the screening and shortlisting phase for failing to meet stipulated criteria, while 432,935 applications were recorded as incomplete.

The recruitment covers key paramilitary agencies under the board, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service Nigeria, and the Nigeria Correctional Service.

The board also released a national breakdown of CBT performance, showing how candidates fared in the examination:

  • 221,996 candidates scored between 0–40
  • 229,155 scored between 41–60
  • 278,543 scored between 61–80
  • 142,697 scored between 81–100

With the CBT phase concluded, the recruitment process is expected to move into the next stage, which includes physical screening and document verification.

The board said shortlisted candidates will receive official notifications detailing screening venues, dates, and required documents.

It reiterated that the entire recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants to rely only on verified official channels for updates, cautioning against misinformation and fraudulent messages.

CDCFIB added that the exercise remains transparent and merit-based, aimed at strengthening manpower across the country’s key internal security and emergency response agencies.
