CAN Plateau Chapter Pays Condolence Visit to Late Prof. Sonni Tyoden’s Family

The Plateau State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, who passed away recently.

Leading the delegation to the late Professor’s residence in Jos was the CAN State Chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo. He was accompanied by Pastor K.B. Yunanah, CAN Vice Chairman; Venerable Felix Auta, CAN Chairman for Jos South and Northern Zone; Paul Ankuka, Secretary of YOWICAN Plateau State; as well as other directors and heads of CAN blocs.

In his remarks, Fr. Lubo expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Christian community in Plateau State, extending heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Abigail Tyoden, the widow, and the entire family. He also conveyed sympathies to the people and government of Plateau State.

“We admonish you to accept the passing of your beloved husband as the will of the Almighty God, who gives and takes according to His divine purpose,” Fr. Lubo said. “We pray that God grants you the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss. May his soul rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Responding on behalf of the family, the deceased’s son, Walsa Tyoden, expressed gratitude to CAN for the visit and their support during this difficult time.

“Our father was not just a father to us, but to many others through the lives he impacted. We are encouraged by the love shown by various groups visiting to pay their respects,” he said. “We ask that you continue to uphold us in prayers as we go through this season of grief.”

The late Prof. Sonni Gwanle Tyoden was a respected academic serving as a former Vice Chancellor of the the University of Jos, administrator, and public servant whose legacy is fondly remembered across Plateau State and beyond.
