Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a new milestone as the African artist with the biggest streaming year on Spotify, amassing nearly 2 billion streams in 2025.
The Ye crooner recorded 1.986 billion streams, surpassing fellow Nigerian stars Wizkid, Rema, and Davido, as well as South African sensation Tyla, to emerge as the most streamed African artist of the year.
According to Spotify’s 2025 streaming data, Wizkid ranked second with 1.81 billion streams, while Tyla placed third with 1.67 billion streams. Rema and Davido followed in fourth and fifth positions with 1.63 billion and 1.58 billion streams, respectively.
Rounding out the top ten were Asake (1.52 billion), Ayra Starr (1.47 billion), CKay (1.38 billion), Seyi Vibez (1.32 billion), and Mr Eazi (1.26 billion), highlighting the dominance of African artists on global streaming platforms.
Burna Boy’s achievement cements his status as one of Africa’s leading musical exports, reflecting the growing influence of Afrobeats and contemporary African music worldwide.
