At least 30 people, including women and children, have been killed in a fresh attack on Naridon Village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, deepening concerns over the worsening security situation in Southern Kaduna.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday night, when heavily armed assailants invaded the community, opened fire on residents and set several houses ablaze, forcing many people to flee for safety.
Community sources said at least 30 bodies had been recovered as of Monday morning, with fears that the death toll could rise as search and rescue operations continue in the affected area. Several homes were also destroyed during the attack, leaving the community devastated.
The number of injured persons and those displaced by the attack had not been officially confirmed at the time of filing this report, as authorities and local residents continued to assess the extent of the destruction.
Residents and community leaders have called on the Kaduna State Government, the Federal Government and security agencies to urgently deploy additional security personnel to the area and take decisive measures to prevent further attacks.
The latest assault comes amid renewed violence in parts of Southern Kaduna, where communities have continued to grapple with attacks, kidnappings and other security challenges in recent months.
