Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has revealed that marijuana was secretly planted in his car back in 1987, in what he described as an attempt to frame him.
Speaking to members in a video that has since gone viral, Oyedepo recounted how the illegal substance was discovered by his former driver, Clifford, who insisted on washing the car that morning.
Bishop Oyedepo said, “Some fellows planted marijuana in my car in those days, 1987, in Kaduna, at the mechanical shop. I had never seen it in my life, so I wouldn’t know.”
He added that Clifford, who has since become a pastor, was removing the car seat in a thorough cleaning when he stumbled upon the suspicious package. “Mysteriously, he was removing the seat, something I had never seen done in a car wash before, and he found freshly wrapped stuff. He opened it and ran to me, shivering,” Oyedepo said.
“When I asked what had happened, he said, ‘That’s one of the things my wife plants behind the house. This is wee-wee.’ I had no idea what ‘wee-wee’ was, because I came to know Jesus early and had never encountered such things,” he added.
The revelation offers a glimpse into the early challenges faced by Oyedepo, who has since grown to lead one of Nigeria’s largest Christian ministries.
