Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has called on security agencies to investigate and take appropriate action against a cleric, Pastor Jemimah David, over a viral video in which she allegedly urged youths in Plateau State to arm themselves against attackers.
Ahmad made the call after sharing a video of the clergywoman preaching during a church service, where she was allegedly heard encouraging young people in Plateau to acquire weapons, including knives, cutlasses and AK-47 rifles, and defend themselves against those attacking their communities.

In a post on his X account, the former presidential aide described the video as disturbing and compared it to an earlier viral video involving a young boy whose song was widely condemned for allegedly promoting violence.
He questioned the apparent difference in public reactions to the two incidents, insisting that calls capable of encouraging violence should attract similar condemnation and prompt intervention from relevant authorities, regardless of where they originate.
Ahmad wrote: “Unfortunately, this is yet another disturbing video, this time showing Pastor Jemimah David preaching from her pulpit calling on youths in Plateau to arm themselves with knives, cutlasses and AK-47 rifles and take the law into their own hands.
“I sincerely hope the relevant security agencies will take note of this video and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.”
He maintained that advocating the possession of illegal weapons and encouraging people to take the law into their own hands could undermine national security and worsen the country’s security challenges.
