The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, on Wednesday led a delegation of political leaders, traditional stakeholders, youths and women on condolence visits to the families of the late Gwom Rwei Jos South, His Royal Highness Da Dr. Nga Dangyang, and the late Da Patrick Nyam Sila, father of the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung.
The delegation first visited the palace of the late monarch in Gyel before proceeding to the family residence of the late Da Patrick Nyam Sila at Miadiko in Rayfield, Jos, to sympathize with the bereaved families.
Speaking during the visit to the palace, Bagos described the late Gwom Rwei Jos South as an exceptional traditional ruler whose more than six decades on the throne were marked by wisdom, humility and dedicated service to his people.
He said the late monarch was not only a custodian of the Berom culture and history but also a symbol of peace and unity whose legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
Bagos prayed for God to grant the royal family, the Berom nation and the people of Jos South the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Responding on behalf of the royal family, the Gwom Rwei Nyango, Da Yohana Pam, expressed appreciation to Bagos and his delegation for the visit and prayers.
He urged political and community leaders to emulate the virtues of the late monarch, who lived to the age of 106 and spent over 60 years on the throne, describing him as a revered custodian of the history and traditions of the Berom people.
The delegation later visited the family of the late Da Patrick Nyam Sila, where Bagos said he came to identify with the family in recognition of the deceased’s immense contributions to the community and his exemplary leadership.
He noted that the late Da Patrick Nyam Sila was widely respected for his influence, integrity and commitment to the development of society, adding that his passing had created a significant vacuum.
Bagos prayed for God to comfort Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, the entire Dung family and all those mourning the deceased, asking for divine strength to help them through the difficult period.
Responding on behalf of the family, Hon. Patrick Sailas described the late Da Patrick Nyam Sila as a man of honour, integrity and unwavering faith who devoted his life to education, leadership and selfless service.
He said the deceased was an accomplished teacher and community leader whose contributions earned him respect and recognition during his lifetime.
According to him, although the family’s loss is profound, they remain comforted by the enduring legacy of discipline, service and commitment left behind by the late patriarch.
He further called on members of the community to use the period of mourning as an opportunity to promote unity, strengthen community cohesion, drive positive political agendas and foster peaceful coexistence among the people.
