Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and celebrity fashion designer Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo, widely known as CEO Luminee, have welcomed a baby boy, sparking widespread reactions across social media.

The actor announced the birth of his son in an Instagram post on Monday, sharing maternity photographs with his wife and expressing gratitude to God for the new addition to their family.

“In quiet ways, in unseen ways, God has been writing a story only He could tell. We thank the Almighty for blessing us with a healthy baby boy,” Baba Ijesha wrote, revealing the child’s name as King Kagar Omiyinka.

While many fans, colleagues and well-wishers congratulated the couple, the announcement also generated controversy due to Baba Ijesha’s previous conviction in a child sexual assault case. The actor was released from prison in November 2025 after serving his sentence.

Among those who reacted was Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who questioned the announcement on social media and later shared a video expressing surprise at the news. Her comments attracted criticism from some social media users, who accused her of being judgmental.

Responding to the backlash, the actress defended her position, stating that while she had dated different men in the past, none had been convicted of sexual offences against minors.

The development also drew reactions toward actress Annie Macaulay, who came under fire after congratulating CEO Luminee on the birth of her child. In response to the criticism, Annie explained that she was unaware of the controversy surrounding the announcement and had simply congratulated Luminee because of their previous professional relationship.

Businessman Wale Jana also weighed in on the debate, defending Baba Ijesha and arguing that a person’s past conviction should not prevent them from receiving forgiveness, mercy, or an opportunity to rebuild their life.

Meanwhile, social commentator Oyemykke raised questions regarding the timeline surrounding the pregnancy and birth, prompting further discussion online. Neither Baba Ijesha nor CEO Luminee has publicly responded to those comments.

Since the announcement, social media platforms have remained divided, with some users congratulating the couple and celebrating the birth of their child, while others continued to debate issues surrounding the actor’s past conviction and public acceptance following his release from prison.

The development has once again sparked broader conversations about accountability, rehabilitation, forgiveness, and second chances for convicted offenders after serving their sentences.
