Nigerian gospel singer Yinka Ayefele has reacted to allegations by fellow artiste Beautiful Nubia accusing him of copying a song melody.
The dispute centres on the ownership of a musical composition both performers are said to have used in different recordings.
Ayefele addressed the controversy in a post on his verified Facebook account, where he questioned the origin of the piece and appeared to challenge the infringement claims.
The reaction follows an earlier statement by Beautiful Nubia on X, in which he alleged that Ayefele’s 2012 track My Faith in God (Igbagbo Ireti) and another musician’s recent single Amin both drew from his earlier composition Seven Lifeswithout proper acknowledgement.
Nubia criticised what he described as a pattern within the gospel music scene of borrowing melodies without crediting original creators, raising concerns about respect for copyright among artistes.
Ayefele’s My Faith in God (Igbagbo Ireti) is listed among the songs released under his Goodness of God project in December 2012.
The disagreement has sparked conversations among fans and industry observers about originality, inspiration, and copyright enforcement in Nigeria’s gospel music industry.
