The Nasarawa State Revenue Service Board said it yesterday stopped attempts by suspected robbers to register some stolen vehicles.
It further reported the arrest of the three suspects.
This came from the chairman of the board, Usman Akposhi who told
reporters that the suspects were nabbed while attempting to renew the
licenses of the stolen vehicles.
Akposhi further disclosed that the vehicles were found to have been stolen in Lagos, Cross River and Kogi states.
According to him, “When we discovered that they were stolen cars
through the board database system of renewal of vehicles licences and
the names of the suspects did not conform with the names we have in the
database, we had no other option but to call the rightful owners of the
cars through their telephone numbers and the suspects were handed over
to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for further
investigation.”
Also the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Barshir Lawal-Kano,
said the vehicles had been handed over to their various owners.
He said, “After thorough investigations, the command discovered that
the three suspects were not the rightful owners; so, we handed over the
cars to their owners.”
