Arsenal Thrash Manchester City 3–0 to Win Community Shield

Arsenal have won the first silverware of the 2026/2027 season after defeating Manchester City 3–0 in the Community Shield at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

The Gunners made a blistering start to the encounter, taking the lead within the opening seconds.

Myles Lewis-Skelly found Riccardo Calafiori inside the box, and the Italian defender kept his composure to slide the ball past Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who had committed himself early.

Arsenal doubled their advantage before half-time after Donnarumma failed to keep out Kai Havertz’s header, allowing the ball to find the back of the net.

The Premier League champions continued to dominate after the break and eventually put the result beyond doubt when Martin Ødegaard dribbled into the penalty area before calmly finishing to make it 3–0.

The victory gives Mikel Arteta’s side an early boost ahead of the new campaign and sees Arsenal lift the Community Shield as their first trophy of the 2026/2027 season.

Arsenal will begin their Premier League title defence against Coventry City on Friday, while Manchester City are set to face Bournemouth.
