An islamic body,  Supreme Council  for Shariah In
Nigeria( SCSN) has called on the Federal Government to invite,
investigate and prosecute General T.Y. Danjuma over his statement that
“every one of us must rise up! The armed forces are not neutral, they
collude with the armed bandits, that kill people and kill Nigerians”
among others.

Leaders of council, in press conference held in Kaduna,
Tuesday,  described Danjuma’s remarks as “most unfortunate statement in
the presence of students who are known to be volatile of youthful
exuberance, his action”.

In the press conference addressed by the council’s BOT Chairman and Secretary, Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachikun and Engr. AbduRahman Hassan, they said “It poses a threat to the peace and stability of the state and crime against the state”.

The council stressed that “prosecution of the Danjuma
would go a long way for the culture of impunity not to be precedential
for the corporate existence of Nigeria.

“No Nigerian citizen is bigger than Nigeria but Nigeria
is indeed bigger than him. The Council commends the Federal Government,
especially on the successes recorded in the North East against the Boko
Haram, the return of Chibok and Dapchi girls and the relative peace
recorded in the country, despite some limited shortcomings. We urge the
government to have more concerted efforts in seeing that peace and
security is maintained in the North East in particular and the entire
nation in general, while paying more attention to the economic
development  of the country”.

The Council also commended the Kaduna State Government
for the efforts in maintaining peace and Security in Kasuwan Magani
Village of Kajuru local government Area, saying some miscreants are
still perpetrating evil by picking one or two citizens and committing
their criminal acts against the unsuspecting citizens. The security
agencies must intensify efforts to see that total peace and order is
maintained and this could only be achieved if the perpetrators are
brought to book”, it stated.

It therefore called on all Muslims to be law abiding,
and continue to invoke Allah (Qunut) for peace and progress of the
country.” We pray that the Federal Government will take drastic measures
on the perpetrators of anarchy in Nigeria, to avoid reprisals in case
of any attack….

Earlier, the council stated that TY Danjuma a remarks
was unbecoming of a statesman, describing it as quiet unfortunate that
the Nigerian citizens would still witness such an unguarded statement by a former player in the Nigerian project.

“However, it is pertinent to note that, a person of his
caliber to openly call on citizens to take up arms, perhaps because of
the demilitarization being carried out by
the Nigerian army is a call to anarchy and also call to treason and
treasonable felony. Has the General forgotten that the genocidal
killings in Odi Bayelsa state, Jalingo, Mubi in Taraba State and Zaki
Biam in Benue State are the worst ever recorded under his supervision as the then Minister of Defense?

“One may tend to ask, how
many children of the General still live within the Nigerian shores? Or
is it because the oil well which made him acquire a lot, is no longer
under his care that makes him careless of the Nigerian state? Or could it be true that the General is likely to be a conspirator in proliferation of arms in the region?

“This is because the efforts maintained by the Nigerian Army of neutrality and demilitarization of the armed militias is yielding positive result, and the suppliers and conspirators may
soon be brought to book to face the wrath of the law or is the General
bedeviled with ethnicity, religious bigotry and usurpation, upon all the
privileges he has in the national cake at several different levels, not
recognizing the previous killings and maiming of innocent Muslims in
Takum and other towns Taraba State.
