The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers over their alleged involvement in an unauthorized deployment during the wedding ceremony of content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and fellow TikTok personality Jarvis in Lagos State.
According to military sources, the soldiers were arrested on Tuesday, August 4, following intelligence reports that they participated in an illegal deployment at the celebrity wedding held in Lekki over the weekend.
The arrested personnel were identified as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa (23NA/85/10007) and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi (23NA/85/7885), both attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) in Obalende, Lagos.
A senior military source said the soldiers were taken into custody on Tuesday morning as investigations commenced.
“Following credible intelligence on the involvement of Nigerian Army personnel in illegal deployment during popular social influencer Peller’s wedding in Lekki, Lagos, the group arrested Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa of the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi, also of 81DMSH, at Obalende this morning,” the source said.
“Preliminary investigation is ongoing to establish the extent of their involvement and identify other personnel connected with the incident. Further details will be forwarded as the investigation unfolds.”
The arrests followed the circulation of videos from the wedding on social media showing uniformed military personnel providing security at the event.
One of the clips, which sparked widespread public reaction, allegedly showed a soldier acting as a bouncer while escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowded venue.
The incident has generated criticism online, with many questioning the alleged use of military personnel for security duties at a private social event involving celebrities and influencers.
