The All Progressives Congress presidential primary in Plateau State recorded a massive turnout on Saturday, with thousands of party members across the state turning out to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 general election.

At the Federal Government College in Jos , the designated venue for Jos North LGA, party members formed long queues from early morning, brandishing their voting slips and chanting slogans in support of the President.

Similar scenes were reported in the Central and Southern zones of the state, where officials said the turnout mirrored that of Jos North.

Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area and Returning Officer John .K. Christopher who addressed voters at Naraguta B Ward, described the exercise as a demonstration of unity and democratic participation.

“We are here today at the Naraguta B Ward. Thank you very much to all the party members in the ward and in all other wards in Jos North LGA. We are here to elect our flag bearer for the 2027 general election,” Chris said.

He added, “We are here today to give a resounding support to our President, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have resolved that we are going to support Mr President to be our flag bearer come 2027. You have been here since morning patiently waiting to be counted and we thank you very much. This is democracy at play and we appreciate all of you. We thank you for the support to Mr President, we appreciate you for your support to our Governor and we thank you for the support for our National Chairman. Thank you and God bless you.”

Also speaking at the venue, a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly representing Jos North North , Adamu Aliyu, commended the turnout and reaffirmed the zone’s backing for the President.

“Our candidate is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all our votes are for him during this primary. We will also deliver our votes for him during the general elections,” Aliyu stated.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Suleiman Kwande, described the conduct of the primary as peaceful and orderly across the state.

“I’m satisfied with the conduct of today’s presidential primary in the state. First, we thank the Executive Governor of Plateau state for making the atmosphere very conducive for all to participate. You can see that everything is orderly and peaceful across the state,” Kwande said.

He added, “Our expectation is that APC will sweep the poll during the general election and I’m very confident about that.”

Party officials said voting proceeded without incident in the three senatorial zones, with results expected to be collated later in the day.

The primary comes as the APC moves to consolidate support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.
