Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has firmly denied claims that he is the father of a teenage girl, Anu, who has publicly requested a DNA test to establish her identity.
The controversy resurfaced after Anu took to Instagram to appeal directly to the singer for a DNA test, citing years of bullying, emotional distress, and a desire to know her true identity as she enters her teenage years.
In an emotional post, Anu said she had been mocked by classmates since the age of six for claiming Davido as her father, a situation that allegedly led to mental anguish and visits to a medical professional. She explained that as she grows older, she wants clarity about her identity and believes a DNA test is the right step.
“This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is the right thing to do,” she wrote, adding that she had also sent the request to Davido via direct message.
However, reacting strongly on social media, Davido dismissed the claims and rejected the DNA test appeal, insisting that he is not the girl’s father. The singer alleged that Anu’s mother is an “obsessed fan” who is misleading her daughter.
According to Davido, he has already undergone five DNA tests in connection with the paternity claim, all of which returned negative results. He stated that three hospitals were selected by him, while Anu’s side chose two, with all tests yielding the same outcome.
“I’ve taken five DNA tests, all negative. I am not your father. I’ve never even met your mom,” the singer wrote, expressing frustration over the continued claims.
Davido further warned that he may take legal action against Anu’s mother, insisting that the matter should be put to rest. While distancing himself from the allegations, he said he does not blame the girl for the situation.
