Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has issued a stern warning to his squad ahead of the new season, declaring that players who underperform during training will be publicly called out in front of their teammates.
Amorim, who is preparing for his first full campaign in charge at Old Trafford, made the declaration during a press conference in the United States, where the team is currently on tour.
“Now they understand when I say something, I will do it,” the Portuguese tactician told reporters. “I don’t treat the players as babies. But they have rules now and that can change the way you train. I’m always on top.
“If you don’t train in the right way, I have footage to show you. And I show you in front of everybody.”
The 40-year-old took over from Erik ten Hag in November last year but endured a difficult start, winning only seven of the 27 matches he oversaw. Manchester United finished a disappointing 15th in the Premier League and lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
Determined to turn the tide, Amorim has already strengthened the squad with the signings of forwards Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
The manager’s uncompromising approach signals a new era of accountability at the club, as he looks to restore discipline and competitiveness ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
