The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, today, December 30, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Malami, who served as Justice Minister for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, is expected to face a 16-count charge bordering on money laundering and related offences.
His plea will be taken before Justice Emeka Nwite.
As of the time of filing this report, EFCC operatives have taken over security at the court premises to prevent any disruption to the proceedings.
The former minister has reportedly been in EFCC custody for nearly one month, following investigations into alleged corruption and financial misconduct linked to his tenure, including suspected mishandling of public funds and other financial irregularities.
