High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has been honoured with the “Guardian of the Nation” Award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in Dallas, Texas, United States.
Tompolo, who is the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, received the special recognition at the awards ceremony held at Annette Strauss Square within the AT&T Performing Arts Centre in Dallas.
According to the organisers, the award recognises Tompolo’s contributions to the protection of Nigeria’s critical national assets, particularly efforts to combat crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
AFRIMMA also highlighted his reported contributions to peace-building, community engagement, job creation and development initiatives across the Niger Delta.
Through Tantita Security Services, Tompolo has played a prominent role in securing Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure and supporting efforts to tackle threats to the country’s petroleum assets.
The organisers said the recognition reflects the importance of protecting Nigeria’s strategic infrastructure while promoting peace, security and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
The presentation of the award in the United States also brought international attention to Tompolo’s activities in the region.
The 2026 AFRIMMA ceremony also recognised other Nigerians, including comedian Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, who won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award, and Nigerian-American DJ and record producer Michael “DJ Tunez” Adeyinka, who won the Best African DJ category.
