Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday, August 20, visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he presented his certificate of return to the President and expressed appreciation for what he described as the Federal Government’s commitment to a free and fair election in the state.
Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, Adeleke said he visited the President to thank him for his commitment to democracy and for allowing the electoral process in Osun State to take place freely.
The governor described Tinubu as the “father of the nation”, noting that the President had played a role in Nigeria’s struggle for democracy.
“Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke also said Tinubu’s decision to allow a free and fair election contributed to the outcome recorded in Osun State.
“That is why he allowed free and fair election, and that is the result,” he said.

The governor said his visit was also aimed at appreciating the President for his role in promoting democratic governance and ensuring that democracy continues to thrive in Nigeria.
“That is why I’m here, to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria,” Adeleke said.
The meeting comes after Adeleke secured his return in the Osun State governorship election, with the governor using the occasion to formally present his certificate of return to the President.
