The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Ahmed Tijjani Galadima, has formally launched his 2027 election campaign, unveiling an agenda centred on economic growth, agriculture, security and improved social services.
Galadima unveiled his “Adamawa Rising Agenda” on Wednesday, September 9, during a press conference in Yola, marking the commencement of the governorship and State House of Assembly campaign period. He launched the campaign alongside his running mate, Adamu Kamale.
The former Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) said his administration, if elected, would seek to move Adamawa away from heavy dependence on federal allocations towards an economy driven by production, enterprise, investment and innovation.
Agriculture is central to his economic plan. Galadima pledged to establish agro-industrial hubs across the state’s three senatorial districts, focusing on commodities including rice, maize, groundnut, cotton, soybeans, cassava and livestock.
He also promised greater investment in irrigation, mechanisation, storage, processing, transportation and market access, arguing that farmers should benefit from the entire agricultural value chain rather than earn mainly from the sale of raw produce.
Galadima said his administration would also seek to attract responsible investment into Adamawa’s solid minerals sector, while promoting local processing, formalising artisanal mining and strengthening environmental safeguards.
On revenue generation, the APC candidate said his government would focus on expanding economic activity rather than placing additional burdens on poor residents. “We will not tax poverty, we will grow prosperity,” he said, according to Tribune.
He further pledged to improve security by strengthening intelligence, rapid response and community-based peacebuilding, while addressing farmer-herder conflicts through land-use planning, dialogue and responsible management of grazing routes.
On human capital development, Galadima promised to expand opportunities for young people in technology, agriculture, entrepreneurship, technical and vocational education and the creative industries. He also pledged greater support for women-owned businesses through access to finance, skills and markets.
The APC candidate also outlined plans to strengthen primary and secondary healthcare, improve maternal and child health services, expand access to specialist care and use technology to connect underserved communities with medical expertise.
Galadima said his administration would build on useful projects and reforms inherited from previous governments rather than abandon them, describing his vision as a “second transformation” focused on prosperity, inclusion, security and shared opportunities.
He called on Adamawa voters to support his vision for the state, saying his ultimate goal was to create an environment where young people could find meaningful opportunities at home instead of being forced to leave the state in search of a better future.
