Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua and his bride, Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, have made history by becoming the first Nigerian couple to tie the knot on a moving train.
The unique wedding ceremony took place on Sunday along the Lagos–Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway, transforming the Mobolaji Johnson Train Station into a beautifully adorned venue on wheels.
Departing from the Alagomeji-Yaba Station in Lagos, the train carried the couple, their guests, and their love story across the tracks — both literally and symbolically.
Viral videos from the event showed the bridal party rushing to board the train, adding a touch of adventure and spontaneity to the celebration.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) also joined in celebrating the milestone, commending the couple for their creativity and for showcasing the beauty of Nigeria’s modern rail system.
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track,” the NRC posted. “History made — the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.”
Beyond romance, the Faquas’ wedding stood out as a symbol of innovation and modernity, earning widespread admiration across social media for its blend of love, artistry, and national pride.
The historic ceremony has been hailed as a remarkable expression of creativity — an unforgettable fusion of love and progress rolling through the heart of the nation, one track at a time.
