Hakimi 2025 caf awards

Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 CAF Player of the Year, securing the continent’s top individual honour after two straight years as runner-up.

The 27-year-old defender clinched the award ahead of finalists Victor Osimhen of Nigeria (Galatasaray) and Mohamed Salah of Egypt (Liverpool).

Hakimi succeeds Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, who won the prestigious prize last year.

A standout performer for PSG, Hakimi was instrumental in the club’s triumphant 2024/2025 season, helping them win the French Ligue 1, the French Cup, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

Despite currently recovering from injury — arriving at Monday’s award ceremony with his foot heavily strapped — Hakimi’s achievements over the season earned him widespread acclaim and ultimately, Africa’s highest football honour.
