Venerable Edwin Achi, the Anglican priest abducted alongside his wife, Sarah Achi, has reportedly died while in captivity, SaharaReporters has confirmed.
The couple was kidnapped on October 28, 2025, from their home in the Nissi community of Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, near the Kaduna Refinery. Their abduction was first reported by SaharaReporters the following day.
Earlier, the kidnappers had circulated photographs of the couple to their family as proof of life, demanding a ransom of ₦600 million. The images showed the priest and his wife in a distressed state, alongside other captives who appeared malnourished and tied in chains.
According to a source cited by SaharaReporters on Wednesday night, Achi, who served as Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero, Kaduna, did not survive his captivity.
Authorities and family members have yet to comment publicly on the reported death.
