Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial District, has reportedly defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Labour Party (LP).
The development was disclosed by Emenike Iroegbu, the Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party in Abia State, who confirmed that the lawmaker has formally joined the party.
Abaribe’s latest move marks another shift in a political career noted for strategic realignments across party lines. The senator had previously been elected under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2023 general elections before defecting to the ADC in December 2025.
His stay in the ADC, however, lasted only a few months before his reported switch to the Labour Party.
Currently serving his fifth term in the Senate, Abaribe remains a prominent figure in Abia South politics.
As of the time of filing this report, the senator had yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the defection.
