
Reports reaching us say a 28-year-old man, Daniel Peter, on Thursday appeared before a Jos
High Court for head butting his friend, Yakubu Abre, which resulted into
the latter’s death.
Mr Peter, a resident of Angwan Wakili, Tudun Wada, Jos, was accused of
culpable homicide, an offence the police prosecutor, Mr. E. I.
Inegbenoise, said contravened section 222 of the Penal Code Laws of
Northern Nigeria.
“The accused used his head to hit his victim who fell to the ground
and hit his head on a stone. He died a few days later. The offence was
committed on December 21, 2016,” the prosecutor told the court.
He said the accused confessed to the police that he head butted the deceased during a scuffle.
“The accused said he alerted others with whom he rushed Abre to a
clinic in Tudun Wada from where they were referred to the Plateau
Specialist Hospital,” Inegbenoise added.
Justice D.D. Longji, who did not take Peter’s plea, adjourned the matter till July 21 for hearing.
He ordered that the accused be remanded in prison.
