Anambra-based clergyman, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has criticised senior Christian leaders, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, for what he described as their “silence on the state of the nation.”
In a viral video, Odumeje expressed concern over the worsening poverty and hunger in Nigeria, lamenting that leading figures in the faith community have failed to speak up despite the country’s economic crisis.
He recalled that some prominent pastors were vocal against government policies during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan but have remained quiet under the current leadership.
“The worst government now is Nigeria,” Odumeje said. “See where Ghana is insulting Nigerians. Even Ghana’s currency is stronger now than Nigeria’s. We used to mock Ghana’s money before, but today, it can be compared to the dollar.
“See Adeboye during Goodluck Jonathan’s time—complaining about fuel price. Now, nobody is talking. Things are getting costlier every day, but it seems like bad government has become normal. Adeboye and Oyedepo are supposed to speak out strongly.”
Odumeje further urged Nigerian youths to “rise up and take back their country from businessmen posing as politicians.”
