President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s security forces are recording steady victories against terrorism, banditry, and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), restoring peace to previously troubled regions of the country.
Speaking during his nationwide broadcast on Wednesday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, Tinubu said the North-East, North-West, and South-East have witnessed improved security as a result of the sacrifices of the armed forces and other security agencies.
“The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe,” the president said.
“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes. We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping across the North-West.”
Tinubu added that many communities once under siege have been liberated, allowing thousands of displaced residents to return to their homes.
He urged Nigerians to continue to celebrate the gallantry and courage of the nation’s security personnel, assuring that his administration is committed to further strengthening security while driving economic growth and stability.
